What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is the fastest growing natural health care profession in the world. It was discovered in 1895 in Davenport, Iowa, U.S.A. D.C.'s (Doctors of Chiropractic) specialize in locating and correcting spinal or joint   conditions known as spinal disfunctions or misalignments.  A spinal or joint dysfunction  can have nerological, muscle, or ligamentous components.  Spinal or joint dysfunction can cause inflamation and irritation of the surrounding soft tissues and become very painful.  Spinal or joint dysfunction is most commonly caused by stresses and impacts to the body from poor posture, poor sleeping habits, slips and falls, vehicular accidents, sports impacts, strenuous exercise, work injuries, childhood falls, and even the birth process.

Just like a dentist, a chiropractic physician does not know the condition of your spinal structure unless an examination is performed.  And, just like cavities for a dentist, spinal dysfunction for a chiropractic physician does not always first present itself with pain or symptoms. Symptoms definitely get our attention, but for 60% of men and 40% of women, the first indication they have of a heart condition is when they die of their first heart attack.  So, even for one of the worst health problems, symptoms are not the best indication of the severity of a condition.

Chiropractic physicians are concerned with proper spinal joint, and your body's proper FUNCTION. We measure how healthy you are and then determine if your spinal sturcture,  joint function and overall health habits can be improved to help you reach your highest level of health.

Spinal or Joint Dysfunction

It may be obvious that you need to see a Chiropractor if you are experiencing neck pain, back pain, hip pain, headaches, numbness or curvature of the spine. However, many people don't realize that chiropractic care has an excellent record of success correcting many health disorders as well as helping healthy individuals maintain optimal health. Maintaining a healthy and well-aligned spine is extremely important and is the most overlooked key to staying healthy.

Chiropractic treatments called spinal adjustments are gentle, comfortable, and highly effective. People of all ages can receive chiropractic care to stay healthy, including infants and the elderly. Years of training, education, and experience enable a Chiropractor to determine how chiropractic care can benefit you and your family. Chiropractors are highly educated, caring professionals sensitive to the natural health care needs of your family.
