Dr. Robert B. Sheely Presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by OSCA

The Ohio State Chiropractic Association has honored Middletown chiropractic physician Dr. Robert B. Sheely with its 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his decades of service to patients, the chiropractic profession, and the people of Ohio.
Dr. Sheely has been in continuous clinical practice in Middletown since 1980. For more than 45 years, he has combined caring for patients with leadership at the state and national levels, helping shape the profession while remaining actively involved in the community he serves.
Over the years, Dr. Sheely has served as President of the Ohio State Chiropractic Association, as a board member and Vice President of the Ohio State Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and subsequently as the board’s Compliance Officer. Appointed by Governor George Voinovich and reappointed by Governor Bob Taft, he served two four-year terms on the state licensing board.
His national service includes nearly 20 years as Ohio’s delegate to the American Chiropractic Association House of Delegates, along with appointments to numerous committees addressing professional advocacy, patient care, education, technology, and practice management.
The Lifetime Achievement Award joins several previous honors, including OSCA Chiropractor of the Year, the American Chiropractic Association’s Flynn Lynch Sr. Memorial Award for outstanding state delegate, and recognition of his practice as Small Business of the Year by the Mid-Miami Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Longtime friend and colleague Dr. Rick McMichael, himself a previous recipient of the award, accepted the honor on Dr. Sheely’s behalf.
Receiving a lifetime achievement award does not mean Dr. Sheely is finished. He continues treating patients at Middletown Spine and Injury – Sheely Chiropractic and pursuing advanced postgraduate education in spinal trauma, MRI interpretation, spinal biomechanics, and primary spine care. He is also applying artificial intelligence to clinical documentation and patient education, and will share his experience with colleagues at OSCA’s Chiropractic Boot Camp on November 12, 2026.
After more than four decades, his commitment remains the same: to keep learning, serve his patients, and help move the chiropractic profession forward.
Dr. Sheely had a scheduling conflict and was unable to attend the conference when the presentation was made and created the acceptance video below.
